It is said that when a person enjoys the freedom of Nirvana, he or she is like a lotus flower that rises out of the muddy waters. Detached from the unwholesome (muddy) states of mind, a nirvanic person's life flowers with the beauty of wholesomeness.
I just love lotus because she grows in mud, yet never contaminates with it. She floats on waving water, yet never dances with it. The branchless stem is hollow inside but straight outside. Her faint fragrance reaches far and she stands erect in water, fair and graceful. She can only be appreciated afar but cannot be played arbitrarily.
